Stroke Awareness Month is observed throughout May each year. Its purpose is to raise awareness of stroke prevention, recognition, and treatment.
Reflecting current clinical evidence, the Resuscitation Council (UK) has recently expanded the stroke recognition signals from FAST to BE-FAST with the addition of balance and eye disturbances as early warning signs. Stewart First Aid Training’s courses have been updated for 2026 to reflect this change and to teach how to recognize these symptoms of stroke and what to do if you suspect someone is having a stroke. These updates strengthen early recognition of life-threatening conditions and prioritize rapid, effective intervention in workplace emergencies.
