Additional information on The Scottish Manual Handling Passport Scheme (SMHPS): This scheme was launched by The Scottish Government, CoSLA and the Health and Safety Executive in 2014. It provides a framework for training that staff complete and can then carry with them if they change employer.
The course is competency based and provides participants with an evidence based workbook of 6 modules: Manual Handling theory, Inanimate Loads, Chair Manoeuvres, Bed Manoeuvres, Hoisting and Lateral Transfers.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the information, practice and documentation consistent with the SMHPS. Following this 2 day course participants will leave with a completed competency booklet covering the following:

Module A: Manual Handling Theory

Module B: Manual Handling of inanimate loads

Module C: Chair Manoeuvres

Module D: Bed Manoeuvres

Module E: Hoisting

Module F: Lateral Transfers

Staff working only with inanimate loads need only complete modules A,B and F
